Our Violet Micro Vision: More Than a Technology Company

When you place a data center on the landscape, it creates space. Space for jobs, for women to run businesses, for unbanked families to access finance, for students to learn online, and for communities to restore degraded land and forests. Violet Micro builds this space — where technology uplifts people and protects nature.

Rochelle:

Rochelle A. James is Chief Executive Officer of Violet Micro and Iron City Data, where she provides strategic leadership and governance oversight for two organizations at the forefront of climate-aligned digital infrastructure. She works closely with her Board of Directors to ensure fiduciary responsibility, long-term value creation, and operational alignment with the Company’s mission.

With a strong background in sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and the design and deployment of green frameworks, Rochelle has built her career at the intersection of digital infrastructure and environmental stewardship. At Violet Micro, she oversees the deployment of modular, solar-powered micro data centers across underserved U.S. and global communities, expanding connectivity while supporting workforce development, women-led enterprises, and regenerative land use. At Iron City Data, she leads the company’s  strategy to transform brownfield and industrial sites into high-performance, pathway-to-net-zero–oriented data centers, guided by the Company’s regenerative digital infrastructure model that integrates community impact and ecological restoration.

Previously, Rochelle supported the development of hyperscale projects serving CoreWeave, Inflection AI, and Microsoft, and advised both governments and private industry on green-aligned infrastructure initiatives.

Rochelle holds a Juris Doctor (in progress) from Lewis & Clark Law School, a Master of Environmental Management, and dual undergraduate degrees in Science and Business Management from The University of Queensland, Australia.

Craig:

Craig’s journey in the data center world started with a wild first project—helping build an EMP- hardened government data center inside a mountain. Not exactly your average “first job out of college,” but it set the tone for a career spent designing some of the most secure, high- performance facilities out there.

Armed with an Electrical Engineering degree from Penn State and Professional Engineer

licenses in multiple states, Craig has gone on to design data centers for major financial players like Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, and BlackRock, played a role in the dot-com boom in Northern Virginia, and even teamed up with Google to design large-scale campuses and experiment with new tech. He also led a team in developing a first-of-its-kind microgrid system that paired lean-burn natural gas generators with battery energy storage—an innovative step forward in bringing resiliency and efficiency to data center power.More recently, he helped design a facility that powers one of the largest GPU clusters in the U.S., pushing the limits of AI and machine learning.

Now back in Pennsylvania, Craig is leading design efforts at Iron City Data Corporation, focused on building the next generation of digital infrastructure—right in his own backyard.

When he’s not deep in the world of data centers, you’ll probably find him cycling, hiking,

playing pickleball, hanging out with his dogs, or just enjoying time with his family.
